Tennis coaching

We are in the middle of 4 sessions of tennis coaching.

Experiment time

Today we had an interchange in the seniors. In Room 12 we looked at what happens when you add different liquids to red cabbage juice. Ask us what happened.

Garden Preparation

We have been preparing our garden area to grow some vegetables. We loosened up the soil to make it easier for the vegetables to grow.  We pulled out as many weeds as we could so that they don't overtake our vegetables. We also tidied up the worm farm because it was a bit messy and the worms were having trouble processing our scraps.

We will soon plant some potatoes, peas and carrots. We have put our potatoes out to sprout. We are doing a little experiment to see where the best place to sprout them is. We are trying the hot water cupboard (warm and dark), the window sill (warm and light) and the art bay cupboard (dark and cool).

We will update you with our progress.

On Tuesday Room 2 & Room 12 made headbands for the Wild Things production. First Room 12 made theirs then we had to teach Room 2 how to make them. Don't they look great.

Today it was maths week and we had to find all the prime numbers up to 100. First we crossed out all the even numbers apart from two. Then we crossed out all the answers to the three times tables. After that we crossed out all the answers to the five times tables, then the six times tables. We kept on crossing out answers to the times tables until there were only 25 numbers left. These we figured must have been the prime numbers up to 100.

Talia and Emma have been doing a project for Young Innovators. What we have done is the library. The books that are on it keep on coming off so we thought that we could go to Mitre 10. We looked and see if there were any things that we could do that would help us keep the books up. When we got there we saw some bungy string and that's what we ended up using. It worked perfectly.

We have been making things to solve problems around the school and I have been making a sign for the tennis court to say when it is scooter day and tennis days. We made the sign because people were fighting over the tennis court. We made the sign and are going to put it up in Term Four because people can't play tennis because the nets aren't up so when it is Term Four we are going to put it up.

On Friday the 26th of June, Room 12 made some art for aurora Australis. We made a background which were the aurora Australis lights and we made a foreground which consisted of some mountains in the back and an everyday object in front of the mountains which appeared bigger because they were closer.

We are having a great day doing Young innovators people are already making their problem. Some problems are feeding the cats,Cloke bay and much more that we have to solve in our class and at home because it's a home problem. People are going to fix the white board because it falls over all the time on us. Poor us what other things fall on top of us?

Southspell

Our three Southspell teams are competing tonight. Forty teams from around Southland are going for the title of champion!

It's our time to see if our egg will crack. It didn't we were so lucky. The reason we had to drop the egg off the playground because Mr Excell made it up because at the ground was a (man) the egg was a possibility of life we needed to get the egg down to the ground with out cracking.
