Marae

Today we were lucky enough to go to the Colac Bay Marae.  We were welcomed on with a traditional powhiri.  After that we took part in different activities around the Marae.  Below are some pictures of our day. We would like to say thank you to all of the people who made today possible.

Outdoor Education

We have just finished two great days of Outdoor Education.  The first day we went boating at Bluegum Point, there were ski biscuits and Eziskis for us to go on.  It was fun, we liked seeing people falling off.  Lots of people fell off in the lake for the first time.  Some of us tried things that we have never done before.
We also made fires to cook sausages on and then went kayaking and built dams in a creak.  We used the fire places by the Scout Den, we had to find dry firewood and leaves to start our fires.  Some of our sausages were cooked well and it was lucky for some that they were pre-cooked.  Some sausages even fell into the fire.  After that we cooked marshmallows.
We then headed down to the lake to go kayaking and build dams.  We all fell out of our kayaks and tried kayak races.  We even made it onto the front page of the newspaper. Click here to see us
We all also had a go at making dams.  At the end we had changed the creak dramatically.

We are trying to cook sausages over fires.   Not sure how they will turn out!

Boating Day

Today we had our boating day, we went ski biscuiting, swimming and some of us had a go on the ezyski.  It was a great day! Thank you to our drivers David, Tony and Muzza.  Also thank you to all of the other parents that helped out.  You guys are amazing! Bring on the kayaking and fire building tomorrow!

Hina Masturi

Yesterday was Girls' Day in Japan. To mark the occasion Lisa brought in her Hina Dolls to show us. She also brought a cake for us to share.  It was delicious!

Summer Safety in the Pool

On Monday we went to the College Pool to practise safety in the water. We floated in life jackets, used bottles to float and floated as a group.  This learning is ahead of us going boating and kayaking next week. We had a great time!
